Centrax Gas Turbines, the international power generation specialist, has made the first sales of the Siemens SGT-300 2S gas turbine to the industrial power generation market.
The latest generation of the Siemens SGT-300 is a twin shaft variant and offers the best efficiency in its class. Exceeding 34% efficiency, it makes the CX300-2S the most efficient 8MW gas turbine on the market. Also, with its steam raising capability, the CX300-2S is an excellent choice for cogeneration.
The 8MW CX300-2S generator set incorporates the next generation of Siemens’ longstanding SGT300 engine. With over 20 years’ experience, the SGT-300 has an excellent reputation for being a workhorse in power generation and combined heat and power applications.
Centrax has been very successful in selling its CX400 generator set, which is based on the Siemens SGT-400 engine, to the European market, including its most recent order with UEM, a French utility company. The success of the CX400 package, along with the SGT-300’s reputation has led Centrax to secure its first two orders for the CX300-2S.
The first order is with Ahlstrom, a world leader in the production of sulfurized paper for cooking based in Saint Séverin, near Bordeaux France. The CX300-2S installation will be managed by Engie (formally Cofely); the gas turbine will produce steam and electricity for the plant and its processes. Handover is due in January 2017.
The second order is for Mayr-Melnhof Karton, a board mill in Eerbeek, Holland. The large carton board producing company approached Centrax for possible solutions to update their Netherlands-based mill; the CX300-2S was selected because of the excellent fit for both performance and thermal output. Handover is 15th June 2017
Toby Boys, European Sales Manager for Centrax, says “the latest addition to the Centrax range further compliments our portfolio by providing the market with the highest efficiency gas turbine in its class. The success of the CX400 has proven to the market the winning combination of Siemens core engines with Centrax packaging and customer support for the industrial power generation market in the 4-66MW range”.
