Bologna starts off with Solingo, the “solar-powered” scooter

SolingoCombining the respect for the environment with the reduction in the urban congestion. This is the goal of Wayel, a company of Termal Group, with along with Rinnova scrl, an affiliate of the University of Bologna, has created Solingo.

The new electric scooter is equipped both with a solar battery which powers the front engine of 250 W, and a traditional one, to support the rear engine o 500 W used in working conditions. Should the latter be exhausted, the vehicle enters in the Solar mode, using the solar reserve and reducing the speed. Moreover, it has a booster which allows using the front and the rear engine at the same time, if the bottom on the handlebar is pressed and held.

Those who will chose to use the vehicle will be exempt from the vehicle property tax for the first 5 years and will be eligible for the state aids intended for the means generating low environmental impact as well as will have the full access to the limited traffic areas.

It is part of the project of production relocation which already encompasses bicycles with pedal-assist Futura and Trilogia 2.0. The electric scooter will be produced under normal operation in the first completely eco-sustainable Italian plant which is being developed on an area of 7,100 square meters in Bologna. The first Solingo was delivered to the Commune of Bologna.
