Total internal reflection LED lighting in 45 tunnels in Lombardy. The first ones to experience the results of that technology are the drivers of Pedemontana Lombarda on the stretch of Milan-Meda, in the locality of Copreno.
The tunnel, which was opened yesterday morning at 6.00 a.m., features uniform lightning, visual comfort and the absence of dazzle. The measurements were made at the inspection preceding the opening. At that time, the technicians determined the level of uniformity of 90% in the permanent lighting, which was higher to that established by the regulations in force and the dazzle below 2% that is less than a fifth of the threshold set forth by the standards.
The push towards the energy saving in the scope of the permanent lightning has led to the creation of such optical solutions that allowed a maximum reduction in the rows of the fixtures installed. Moreover, there was elaborated a system with double devices that work on alternate basis. Such a solution allows doubling the lifetime of the fixture that remain on 24/7.

I wish the government could finance the completion of such an intervention that ensures security for the inhabitants and respect for the environment.”
