The 12th edition of ESCO Europe, an international traveling event which every year offers occasions for exchange of experiences between the main players in the sector, was held in Milan on January 20-21. A great novelty in this edition was the focus on the profession of “facilitator,” an element that different players defined as strategic by different players in breaking the barrier of mistrust of the companies towards the ESCOs.
Another crucial point of discussion is the management through EPC contractors as a necessary element for the ESCO model application. Such a formula is still rarely used in Italy, but it is the only model abroad that has taken hold.
What is more, as Paolo Bertoldi, Action Leader of the European Commission underlined, “the ESCOs are complex projects that deal not only with efficiency, but also smart building and sustainability.”
