Abruzzo aims at the “network” of biomethane

ABRUZZO16SETTCreating in Abruzzo four plants to produce and distribute biomethane powered by short chain, that would at the same time offer sales of products of small-sized local companies (which are also the so-called “0 mile” companies) in a marketing area defined as “bio-oasis.” This is the idea that company Crea presented last week to the regional counselors Lolli, Mazzocca and Pepe, with the aim of attracting to that area the investments of 28 M euros and about 800 workplaces.

The first four plants will be located in Chieti, l’Aquila, Teramo and Pescara. The raw material for biomethane production will come from by-products from agriculture, farming, agro-food activity and above all the fishing industry.

“It is the project to which we have always paid the utmost attention – commented the regional counselors – as it is about a project that wonderfully couples the production requirements with those of the environment and the green economy. In view of such an important entrepreneurial initiative one has a strong feeling that the area will gain something really innovative able to generate employment.”

The originators intend that Abruzzo should be only the first regional step: they have an idea to create a network of enterprises producing and distributing biomethane.
