Brightsmith is supporting an international renewable energy developer, backed by a well-established infrastructure investor, is expanding its Italian platform and is looking to hire a Project Development Engineer to support the growth of its utility-scale portfolio.

Key Responsibilities
• Identify and assess project sites using environmental, technical and regulatory criteria
• Prepare project layouts and technical drawings using CAD software
• Conduct energy yield simulations to inform feasibility and design decisions
• Perform site constraint analysis using GIS tools, geoportals, cadastral data and public information sources
• Support the preparation and review of planning and permitting documentation, including Autorizzazione Unica, PAS and Environmental Impact Assessments
• Coordinate external consultants, engineers, environmental specialists and permitting advisors
• Engage with landowners, municipalities, regional authorities, grid operators and other stakeholders
• Review technical, planning and environmental documentation to support internal decisions
• Assist with due diligence activities for projects in development or acquisition
• Prepare internal reports, presentations and supporting documents for project progression
Who We Are Looking For
• Degree in engineering or a related technical discipline
• One to three years experience in renewable energy development or a similar technical environment
• Understanding of Italy’s permitting and regulatory framework
• Experience using CAD and GIS tools and familiarity with energy yield modelling
• Strong communication and relationship building skills
• Ability to manage multiple activities and prioritise effectively
• Detail oriented with strong analytical and organisational skills
• Motivated by the clean energy transition and willing to learn and grow
• Fluent in Italian and English
• Willingness to travel within Italy as needed
