Studying mobility to relaunch and enhance an urban area, just like happens in the European capitals. This is the project for restarting and promoting made by Parco De’ Medici executive Center, multi services complex in Roma’ suburb that every day hosts, between companies, corporations and leisure activities, about 18 thousands people.

A proper district in the Capital for housing density, cars’ flows and energy consumptions that want to get smart starting by an innovative intermodal mobility’ system called “A Smart and Green Business City Hub”, as explains to Canale Energia eng. Marco London, PhD SIS.TER. POMOS S.r.l: “Modernizing’ project “A smart and Green Business city Hub” is a global relaunch plan of the complex working on: sustainable mobility, safety and connectivity. To do it, we started studying the area to evaluate how optimizing intermodal sustainable mobility. The first to get involved were mobility managers of companies participating the consortium that presented questionnaires to analyze their inner (watch the interview to TechnipFMC’ mobility manager). With almost 2500 answers we made a SWOT analysis that we discussed, with the support of Euromobility, straight with mobility managers during the mobility’ week”. To collect the data, fundamental to do criticalities and desires’ analysis in the area, the company followed with a study of the area and the elaboration of some simulations resulting suitable to realize in a short period (until 2020) and other in the medium (until 2023); we consider long period too variable and it was excluded from a planning evaluation.

Actions to improve environmental impact in short period – 2020

Suggested activities by SIS.TER. POMOS to improve environmental impact in the short period, so in the 2020 scenario foresee, meanwhile, an integration of recharging areas for electric vehicles “In slow modality too” underlines eng. Car pooling is the star of all the area. Created to satisfy a big part of 18.000 regulars till now, following what we see on questionnaire, they move mainly as single in the cars.

To promote concretely the service, emerged as necessary to offer an efficient, safe, flexible accessible and defined system only for consortium’s users.

We thought at an instrument similar to Uber, to be easy to geolocalize the car by cell phone and hire it. In this way it will be possible to think about prizes (non è chiarissimo..) for the ones offering their own cars and their itinerary (petrol vouchers, free car’ inspections etc.). To guarantee service’ homogeneity is necessary the presence of an entity able to manage from the top the car pooling’ system, the same way that already happens for garbage collection and monitoring“ explains London.

Other activity to be completed is a ‘corporate shuttle’ system, in some examples already exists, but it would be centralized, optimizing the system.

Cycling mobility’s development is a part of green approach, in fact some consortium’s users, through POMOS’ work, underlined the utility of (It’s not clear…) to connect the actual cycle to the business district. This request was presented already during the ideas collection by Roma’s own municipality to realize the Pums (This one is not clear too).Behind this, If we would obtain it from the municipality, we already valued the integration of  a sharing bike’ service from both the cycling junction’ ends” underlines London. Compliance to train’s connection, instead, we sponsored the creation of automatic ticket offices in the station.

Finally pedestrian handling. Connections in the central office were advised as low illuminated and so detected like unsafe and subject to flooding. “Even about this we proposed an improvements’ plan and the integration with an additional underpass”            explains London.

Actions to improve environmental impact in medium (nell’art. è riportato lungo. Refuso?) period – 2023

Like a natural continuation of short time’ plan, SIS.TER POMOS evaluated technological upgrade, demanding under investments’ profile but not that far from reality: shared autonomous driving shuttles. You can find some of them at “Defence” in France. (Highly futuristic district companies’ services and spare time around the corner in Paris).

In this way, in long period it’ll be possible even to recover car parking areas, to convert in green spaces, with Wi-Fi connectioneng. Marco London underlines innovative value ”We can think about inserting spaces used to work outside, equipped with energy accumulating’ systems with renewable recharge. Smart complex will be integrated moreover with a last generation’ monitoring system”.

Impact’s calculation on circulating cars

In the short period we evaluated a circulating cars’ reduction between 8,78% and 16,60%, while in the medium period we evaluated a scenario for the impact on circulating cars between 14,47% and 27%. “Most significant data beyond the number of circulating cars” explains Landon “we have on travel times. So we measured how the heart of the problem is not really about the leaving times, but the entrance ones and here we propose(It’s an interpretation..) how to act”. Without considering a lower area’ pollution and emissions’ reduction are significant addictions to the whole system (One more deduction).
