Innovation and Apps, an Italian model

What is the method for a start-up to steadily double its turnover in three years?

We produce embedded systems that is on the premises of the end user. We are also involved in development of the hardware, which may be defined as “low level,” related to FPGA and  Zynq.

We are also working on the applications to different sectors, from the security to the mobility. We employ in the Apps engineering development that I have just mentioned. In addition, we integrate with them advanced geolocation systems and provide interactions with cell phone as well as external objects such as bracelets or rings where we insert our microprocessor. We also deal with monitoring and remote inspection.

An innovative approach requires swift thinking, how do you elaborate your ideas?

Another crucial activity for us is to integrate the background of the new staff in order to enrich our activity. The internal involvement is continuous. Every six months we organize a meeting with a psychologist to help us interpret society and its developments. Moreover, every two months we use brainstorming in order to evaluate new projects to be followed. In this case the project author receives a bonus to the salary. Basically, it is an internal prize competition which brings the advantage to the company and to the staff. We are always open to scouting. We like to meet the persons who are keen on innovating. It also occurs that at the interview the candidates propose developing their idea together…

How do you assess the project performance, also in terms of its profitability?
We check how an application can interact with the surrounding scenario for which we carry out the climate evaluation. Probably such a mindset stems from its European projects which require conduction of the state-of-the-art analysis for a geographic area up to the assessment of investment plans at the environmental level. In our opinion this kind of approach allows for a comprehensive assessment of the project interest.
