Food branch in certified DOP and IGT products goes back on growth in 2016, reaching the best result of ever, with a +3,3%. These are the Ismea Qualivita 2017 report’ encouraging data, showed today in Roma, showing a growing trend even for aspects linked to sustainability and local supply chain’ promotion.

Mauro Rosati, Qualivita’ general manager, explains it at Canale Energia “Ismea Qualivita 2017 proves, first of all, there is a great gain especially about quality products’ export, like meat, cheese and wine too. Substantially in ten years we had a 140% growth in export. This means these products are not only a business card, but an important part of Italian export too. Moreover, we started to enter in IGP’ sector, IGP means certification. Then we have sustainability’ theme, getting more and more important in the agricultural and wines more advanced districts: we many farming products with their own bio districts or sustainable certifications, like Chianti’ district or the Prosecco DOC’ and Vernaccia di S. Gimignano and Lambrusco ones, a lot of wines are approaching theme of sustainability, on one side because is a market’s request, especially the advanced one, where we sell these products, on the other because is a prerequisite to make a quality’ wine, and the big wine producers understood it“.
