Jojob the car pooling for colleagues

Jojobante#COLLEGHIamoci is a social slogan of JoJob, a company car pooling service launched by Bringme Srl, which briefly presents the core and idea of the project. We ask Mariachiara Bosio, Public Relations, Communication and Marketing of JoJob how the service works. The Jojob service has been active for a year: it was officially inaugurated at SMAU Milano in October 2014.

The car pooling portal wants to create clusters of people from the same area who need to commute to work. Besides the website, there is a mobile application: whereas the website helps the colleagues to find each other, the app (available for Android and iOS) allows certifying the CO2 saved on every trip.

Upon completion of the trip and synchronizing their smartphones, the passengers receive and e-voucher with a summary of the distance traveled, the number of trip companions and the carbon dioxide saved.

If a company is not interested in joining the initiative, can an employee do it on its own?

The registration is free of charge and the employee may become a spokesperson: it is possible to join the initiative and invite colleagues by e-mail, download the company, if it is not our client, or associate with it, if it is on the list. The map gets clustered and coming to life, and at that point, the user can contact other persons present on the map. Next, they can put forward the idea in its own organization.

Do you resort to gamification to incentivize the use Jojob?

The CO2 saving entails double advantage: the user may receive exclusive discounts in gyms, entertainment parks, farm holidays facilities, etc.; and the company may use aggregate data present in the private area of the website in order to obtain the company certifications UNI EN ISO 14001 and EMAS. There is also an issue of money saving: the service is less expensive than the use of company shuttle buses, and it is useful in case of strike of public transportation services, as it reduces the absences and improves the access to the organization. If the premises are located in areas that are difficult to reach, such service can be a unique alternative to get there.

How many companies are part of the circle?

For the time being, there are more than 50 companies as clients, all of them are large-sized: Heineken, Findomestic, Unicoop Firenze, Auchan, Coop Nord Ovest as well as the communes of Cesano Boscone, Castelvetro di Modena and Abbiategrasso. In addition, 700 small- and middle-sized companies are listed after being downloaded by single users. They do not need to produce data concerning the CO2, but they benefit from sharing the trip from home to work.

Are there areas that are more covered?

We are present in the entire Italy: we are very active in Lombardy, in Central Italy (Tuscany, Emilia Romagna and Lazio) reaching Naples. We can say we are an Italian market leader in the scope of the company car pooling.

Do you also apply electric cars for commuting?

The vehicles are exclusively of private persons: it is not about di car sharing, and thus we do not bring new vehicles onto the market with a view to saving energy and reducing polluting emissions. Every single user can indicate the means used to get to work on the moment of registration on the platform. This allows creating a profile and other users using the website may view whom they can contact at a given time to share the trip.

What are the future proposals?

We aim to consolidate our leadership in Italy so that we could then expand abroad: we will soon launch a message on the internationalization. The fil rouge of our work will still consist in creating clusters of people who use the service in order to gather employees from numerous public and private companies.
