FROM EXPO IN MILAN TO KAZAKHSTAN: 9000 KM BY “SOLAR” BIKE

PaulineA bike powered by solar energy and a route that begins at the Expo Gate in Milan and ends in Astana, in Kazakhstan, of 9000 km. These are the features of the adventure that Pauline de La Marnierre, a 26-year old Frenchwoman, former employee of Alstom Transport in Kazakhstan, undertook on June 6, 2015 .

The journey is part of the annual international initiative The Sun Trip 2015 which since 2013 has promoted the use of alternative sources for a more sustainable lifestyle. The route of this adventure runs through Europe and Asia, and ten site of Alstom Transport in Belfort, Ornans, Le Creusot, Villeurbanne, Sesto San Giovanni, Bucharest, Istanbul, Tbilisi, Baku and Astana.

 

The second aim of the Sun Trip is to raise funds for completion of the project of the Alstom Foundation in Ethiopia where new solar energy pumping systems will make it easier for the local population to access water.
